Preparation

This comprehensive course is designed for educators who want to improve their digital skills and create effective learning experiences. Participants will receive hands-on training in the use of Web 2.0 tools to create interactive and multimedia-rich content. The course emphasises ethical practices, interactivity and accessibility to ensure inclusivity in digital education.

Through this training, participants will

– Design digital lessons, quizzes and multimedia presentations to increase student engagement.

– Create content for different learning models, including virtual classrooms and hybrid environments.

– Develop collaborative skills using digital platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Google Workspace.

Aim

This course aims to equip educators with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop the digital content they need in their digital courses, taking into account individual learning needs.

Objectives

  1. Develop skills in digital tools: Gain hands-on experience with platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace and Nearpod to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  2. Design engaging educational content: Create multimedia resources, including presentations and interactive quizzes, to engage learners.
  3. Encourage ethical digital practices: Implement responsible online behaviour and collaborative strategies in educational contexts.
  4. Increase student engagement: Use interactive tools such as Kahoot and Quizlet to encourage participation and excitement in learning.
  5. Improve collaboration skills: Use Web 2.0 tools to create and maintain dynamic digital learning communities.

  • Microsoft Teams: Collaboration platform – Google Workspace: Google Suite tools – Collaboration and sharing tools from Google
  • Practical Work: hands-on experience with Microsoft Teams and Google Workspace

Day 2:Digital content creation and tools

  • Presentation tools: Nearpod, Canva – Learning environments: Moodle, WordPress
  • Worksheet creation tool: Wizer Worksheet – Practical work
  • Integration of 21st-century skills- making visual thinking skills in STEM Lessons
  • Creating digital content using tools from Day 2

Day 3:Introduction to digital content creation and teacher tools

  • Questionnaire/test generators: LearningApps, Formative, Educaplay, Quizlet, Kahoot, Classtime
  • Tools: Link Shorteners, Mind Mapping, QR Code Generators
  • Practical Work: creating a questionnaire/test using tools from day 3

Day 4:Subject-specific applications and AI

  • Subject-specific applications: Desmos, ChemCollective
  • Hands-on digital content assignment: Developing digital material on environmental issues and climate change
  • AI tools: Curipod, Wolfram Alpha, Chat GPT 3.5, Perplexity, Craiyon.com, Alpha.Genmo.AI
  • Practical Work: integrating AI into digital content creation

Day 5:Visual storytelling in digital content

  • Methods of creating infographics using Storyjumper
  • Visual storytelling techniques, comic tools, e-book tools
  • Practical Work: creating infographics or slides on pollution and climate change

Day 6:Using simple multimedia creation tools

  • Animation creation tools, drawing tools
  • Music editing tools, image editing tools, video editing tools
  • Hands-on – create simple multimedia about pollution or climate change

Day 7:Presentations and conclusion
